Job Summary Pico Propane in Miami is seeking a Propane and Cylinder Delivery Driver to join the team! This position is responsible for loading, transporting and delivering propane to our residential and commercial customers using a bobtail truck (3,000-5,000-gallon capacity).
Our drivers are committed to Service, Efficiency, and Safety.
Duties / Responsibilities
Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations
Loads, secures, transports, and delivers propane to residential and commercial locations
Provides a high level of service to customers
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materials
Maintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles driven in compliance with all DOT regulations
Maintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safety
Ensures that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor
Applies a thorough understanding of the technical concepts, practices and procedures and a general knowledge of industry standards and government regulations related to testing and transporting bulk petroleum products to pipeline injection points
Performs other related duties as assigned
Cylinder Driver
Delivers cylinders of various sizes and picks up empty cylinders
Delivered to all customers on a flatbed truck that may be equipped with a lift gate to assist with loading and unloading cylinders
Performs all daily functions in a safe manner by adhering to all federal and state codes and regulations, in addition to all safety and operations policies and procedures while utilizing all personal protective equipment (PPE)
The absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of the position.
Qualifications Skills / Abilities
Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and / or web-based or physical maps.
Ability to maintain accurate logs and records
Ability to carry out a series of instructions with limited supervision
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Class A or B CDL license with hazmat / tanker endorsements requiredPropane certification (preferred but not required)
No more than 1 moving violation in the previous 2 years
1+ years tanker experience within the last 5 years preferred
Physical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 100 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift.
Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift
Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night.
Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms
Must be able to speak and hear
Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and / or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider
Must pass pre-employment screening
Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat / cold, fumes, airborne particles and gases is common.
