Travel Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse
Location: Lexington, KY
Job Type: Full‑Time / Contract
Experience Required: Minimum 1.5 years recent ICU experience
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our ICU team in Lexington, KY. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in critical care with neuro experience. The RN will provide high‑acuity patient care, monitor and interpret life‑supporting equipment, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care to critically ill adult patients in a fast‑paced ICU environment.
Manage airway including intubation support and suctioning, with proficiency in ventilator management.
Interpret and act on abnormal ABG results and dysrhythmias.
Administer and titrate continuous IV sedation and vasoactive IV drips (e.g., vasopressors).
Monitor and manage arterial lines, central venous catheters, and other invasive lines.
Recognize signs of deterioration and respond quickly to emergent situations.
Follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols.
Document all assessments, interventions, and changes in condition using computerized charting systems (EMR).
Apply triage skills (when applicable for ER/ER Holding).
Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and failure with a nurse‑to‑patient ratio typically 1:1–2+.
Provide care under NIH Stroke Protocols as necessary.
Communicate effectively with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
Required Qualifications
Active RN license in the state of Kentucky (or compact state license).
Minimum of 1.5 years of recent ICU experience in a hospital setting.
BLS and ACLS certifications (required).
NIH Stroke Scale Certification.
Proficiency in interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs.
Experience with IV titration, sedation, central lines, and arterial line management.
Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
Artline management and triage skills for Emergency Room (ER) or ER Holding Unit experience.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and computerized documentation.
Schedule & Compensation
Shifts: Nights
Competitive compensation based on experience.
