An opportunity is available for a registered nurse skilled in infusion therapy to provide specialized care within an outpatient oncology infusion center. This contract position offers daytime hours with a consistent Monday to Friday schedule, supporting patients undergoing treatment for various cancers. Expertise in administering chemotherapy and managing related complications is vital to deliver comprehensive, compassionate care.
Location Situated in Ventura, CA, this position allows you to work in a vibrant coastal community known for its beautiful beaches, mild climate, and friendly atmosphere. Responsibilities
Administer chemotherapy, including continuous infusions, IV push, and oral medications, following established protocols
Manage and care for central lines, ports, and PICC lines, including blood draws and infusion pump settings
Monitor patients for side effects such as acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and sepsis, responding appropriately
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, symptom management, and advanced directives
Handle cytotoxic spill management and maintain strict body fluid precautions
Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic medical records
Qualifications and Desired Experience
Active RN license with infusion nursing experience in oncology
Current BLS certification (AHA, no HeartCode accepted)
Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chemotherapy certification required
Preferred experience includes bone marrow transplant, outpatient or inpatient oncology, immunotherapy, and symptom management for cancer patients
Skilled in managing infusion pumps, central lines, and handling chemotherapy medications safely
Ability to recognize and manage complex chemotherapy side effects and emergencies
Shift / Hrs
Day shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5x8 schedule)
This contract role welcomes first‑time travelers and requires no holiday requests, allowing for steady and reliable scheduling.
