Responsibilities

Assist the provider and/or practice manager with patient care duties and provide administrative support and supervision throughout the practice.

Assist provider in examination and treatment of patients, performing delegated duties under provider direction.

Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patients’ charts.

Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.

Cross‑train to perform duties that enhance efficiency and continuity of patient care delivery.

Prepare patients and exam rooms for provider consultation, take medical history and vitals, schedule appointments (lab, x‑ray), explain processes, assist providers in special procedures (including minor surgery), remove sutures, clean wounds, apply dressings, notify patients of lab results, give shots and immunizations, and observe patients before, during, and after treatment administration.

Authorize and dispense medications as prescribed by provider.

Ensure smooth progression of patient schedule, working with practice team to assure efficient patient flow.

Follow HIPAA guidelines for all patients and family members.

Participate in regulatory compliance and quality management initiatives while maintaining fiscal accountability.

Serve as a resource to staff on patient care and clinical policy issues, and act as liaison between patients, the practice, the hospital, and community resources.

Manage staff schedules, time and attendance, provide daily coaching and support, collaborate with practice manager, and assist with corrective/disciplinary discussions/actions.

Provide input on performance evaluations.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with current Ohio license.

1‑year clinical experience in a medical/physician office setting.

Current Ohio LPN license.

Basic Life Support certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Experience in physician practice and use of electronic medical records preferred.

Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and HIPAA regulations preferred.
