Responsibilities
Under the direction of the provider and/or practice manager, assist and deliver patient care duties, provide administrative support and supervision throughout the practice. This includes assisting the provider in examination and treatment of patients, performing delegated duties, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, recording information in charts, preparing treatment rooms, and cross‑training to enhance efficiency and continuity of care. Prepare patients and exam rooms for provider consultation, take medical history and vitals, schedule appointments (e.g., lab, x‑ray), explain processes, assist providers in special procedures (including minor surgery), remove sutures, clean wounds, apply dressings, notify patients of lab results, give shots and immunizations, and observe patients before, during, and after treatment. Authorize and dispense medications as prescribed by provider. Ensure smooth progression of patient schedule, working with the practice team to assure smooth patient flow. Follow HIPAA guidelines for all patients and family members. Participate in regulatory compliance and quality management initiatives/activities while maintaining fiscal accountability. Serve as a resource to staff on patient care and clinical policies and procedure issues, and act as a liaison between patients, the practice, the hospital, and community resources. Manage schedules, time, and attendance; provide daily coaching and support; collaborate with the practice manager and assist with corrective/disciplinary discussions/actions. Provide input on performance evaluations. Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with current Ohio license. One year of clinical experience in a medical/physician office setting. Current Ohio LPN license. Basic Life Support certification. Preferred Qualifications
Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred. Experience in physician practice and use of electronic medical records preferred. Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and HIPAA regulations preferred.
