Overview
This is a hands‑on Controller role reporting directly to the CFO at a well‑established insurance organization based in Tulsa. You’ll own the full accounting function and play a key role in financial leadership, controls, and decision‑making. This role blends strategic oversight with hands‑on execution and is ideal for an accounting leader who thrives in a stable, growing insurance environment. Full relocation is covered.
What You’ll Do
Lead all core accounting functions including month‑end close, general ledger, journal entries, and work‑in‑process reporting.
Own and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Partner with the CFO and senior leadership to provide insight into financial performance, trends, and risks.
Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting.
Lead quarterly accounting reviews, annual audits, and coordination with external auditors and tax advisors.
Oversee statutory reporting, tax, treasury, AP, and AR functions.
Manage cash flow, bank relationships, and working capital requirements.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting teams across multiple functions.
Drive process improvements, systems enhancements, and special projects as assigned by the CFO or VP Finance.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
8+ years of progressive accounting experience within insurance or Big 4 public accounting.
Insurance industry experience strongly preferred (health insurance or P&C insurance).
Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, statutory reporting, internal controls, and audit processes.
Strong communicator who can partner effectively with executive and non‑finance stakeholders.
