Responsibilities
Monitor the computer-based ESS alarm and access control systems and closed‑circuit television systems.
Monitor electrical, water, and gas alarms; notify the Shift Supervisor and, when necessary, request external emergency response services and perform emergency shutdown of utility services.
Coordinate emergency response.
Coordinate telephone and radio communication between the Shift Supervisor and SPOs.
Internal and external emergency notification.
Maintain a daily activity log of incidents and prepare incident reports.
Maintain a lost‑and‑found articles log.
Receive, issue, store, and account for controlled property.
Respond to Kennedy Center staff and the public regarding security‑related questions.
Qualifications
United States citizenship required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a SOC, including operation of computer‑based alarm monitoring, access control systems, and radio/telephone.
Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English.
Ability to provide calm, courteous, and concise information over radio or phone in stressful or emergency situations.
Ability to prepare and maintain complete and comprehensive reports.
Ability to maintain constant liaison with on‑scene personnel and responders during emergencies.
Training Requirements
Completion of required training and passing of written examinations.
40 hours of initial weapons training.
Training in X‑ray and magnetometer operations.
Fitness for duty certification.
Emergency evacuation procedures training.
Code Bravo training.
Watch‑tour procedures training.
Certification Requirements (All)
DCSPO Armed License
OC Spray Certification
Handcuffing Certification
CPR/First Aid Certificate
Education Requirements (Any)
Associate’s Degree
High School Diploma or GED
