Assistant Director / Student-Athlete Services
CMU Medical Education Partners (CMEP) works closely with Central Michigan University (CMU) to provide an innovative curriculum and support for student-athletes. This position serves as the Academic Coordinator for assigned sports teams, promoting academic success and retention while ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations.
Position Summary Academic Coordinator for assigned teams: promotes academic success and retention of student-athletes; assists in monitoring continuing eligibility; mentors at-risk student-athletes; meets with prospective student-athletes on recruiting visits and provides coaches with relevant NCAA Eligibility Center information regarding prospective student-athletes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
One year of experience working in a college student services area.
Commitment to academic integrity and compliance with University, Conference and NCAA regulations.
Positive interpersonal skills.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to multi‑task and maintain effective organizational skills.
Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Knowledge of Division I athletic programs.
Advising and academic support programming experience in an NCAA intercollegiate environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide academic support for student-athletes.
Mentor a large population of at‑risk student-athletes.
Assist with NCAA continuing eligibility certification for CMU, NCAA, and Mid‑American Conference eligibility.
Perform program presentations for recruitment of prospective student-athletes and their parents.
Monitor academic progress for student-athletes to ensure CMU graduation and NCAA eligibility.
Assist with student-athlete development programming.
Other duties as assigned.
Employment Information
Position Title: Assistant Director / Student‑Athlete Services
Pay Range: $40,000 – $45,000
Location: Mount Pleasant, MI
Work Schedule: Mon‑Fri, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (weekends and evenings required)
Employment Status: Full-Time (12‑month)
