Job Description The Sourcing Specialist role supports and executes Sourcing strategies, supplier management, and commercial negotiations across key indirect spend categories, with primary focus on capital and non-capital equipment, spare parts, MRO, plant services, and transportation & logistics. This role drives total-cost value, operational reliability, and structured supplier governance supporting manufacturing and distribution operations.
The Specialist also supports and executes sourcing activities in professional services, temporary labor, IT/software, facilities, and other indirect categories on an as-needed basis. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Logistics, Maintenance, Finance, and Legal to ensure procurement strategies meet business and performance objectives.
The Specialist must develop an understanding of the spend profile, supplier landscape, and internal stakeholder requirements. Leveraging market intelligence, industry knowledge, and cross-functional collaboration, the Specialist delivers best-possible value to 3A through assurance of supply, quality, service levels, innovation, and cost.
Success in this role requires strong capabilities in supplier selection and management, negotiation, data analysis, supply-chain optimization, and risk mitigation.
Responsibilities
Generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies
Build strong relationships with key suppliers
Identify, plan, and implement continuous improvement opportunities within supply chain
Drive TCO reductions across the supply chain
Understand and leverage market intelligence and industry insights
Negotiate and implement contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on costs, terms of supply, service, and quality
Adhere to all relevant guidelines and regulations
Estimate risks and apply risk minimizing techniques
Perform cost analysis and benchmarking
Analyze and calculate procurement costs and develop cost reduction strategies
Drive purchasing decisions based on total cost of ownership, risk mitigation and sustainability goals
Identify and partner with trustworthy vendors and suppliers
Develop supplier management programs with key suppliers including metrics, performance goals and improvement initiatives
Optimize sourcing processes to attain maximum efficiency
Develop sourcing best practices and document associated processes and procedures
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or similar field
At least 1-3 years Strategic Sourcing experience (Indirect Sourcing experience preferred)
Excellent computer skills including AI tools, Microsoft Office and MRP systems (SAP experience preferred)
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in related tools (intermediate to advanced Excel skills, experience building PowerBI dashboards preferred)
Master's degree in business or similar field (preferred)
Procurement certifications or advanced training (i.e. CSP, CSMP, ISM, negotiations training, etc.) (preferred)
Certified in process improvement or lean/six sigma principles (i.e. yellow or green belt certification) (preferred)
Willing to travel at least 5-10% for business purpose
Key Skills Needed
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to problem solve and develop resolutions in a timely manner
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Independently determines method of completion for new projects
Recommends new practices, processes, and metrics
