Head of Domestic Tax
Our client is seeking a seasoned Head of Domestic Tax to lead and evolve their U.S. tax function. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of domestic tax strategy, compliance, provision, and planning within a complex insurance-focused environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong people leadership, and the ability to partner effectively with executive leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.
Base pay range $300,000.00/yr - $450,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities
Lead the U.S. domestic tax function, including tax compliance, tax provision, planning, and audit management
Oversee preparation and review of ASC 740 tax provisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
Serve as the primary subject matter expert on U.S. insurance company tax rules and regulations
Develop and execute tax strategies that optimize the company’s tax position while managing risk
Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a high‑performing and collaborative culture
Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and external advisors on tax‑related matters
Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on tax implications of business initiatives, transactions, and regulatory changes
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess impacts to the organization
Lead tax audits and interface with federal and state taxing authorities as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Tax, Accounting, or related field strongly preferred
15+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or the insurance industry
Extensive knowledge of U.S. insurance company taxation
Deep expertise in ASC 740 and corporate income tax provisions
Demonstrated people leadership experience, including managing and developing teams
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders
CPA or JD strongly preferred
