Position Summary This Contracts Specialist protects University researchers and clinicians engaged in commercial research partnerships. The specialist interacts with faculty and external entities—companies, CROs—to analyze contract terms, assess risk for the University, and promote conformity in agreements related to University of Nebraska Medical Center research. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating sponsored research, clinical trials, and intellectual property agreements; assisting with proposal submissions that trigger contract‑based awards; monitoring agreement terms; maintaining regular contact with legal, IRB, and IACUC for compliance; ensuring University compliance in contracts and agreements.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or JD preferred.
Experience : 3 years of relevant contract negotiation experience in a medical research environment.
Skills :
Excellent communication and customer service orientation.
Extensive knowledge of contract methods and procedures.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to manage a complex portfolio of work in an intensive multi‑tasking environment.
Preferred
Background in science.
Experience with university financial and administrative policies related to contract management.
