Commercial Roofing Estimator We’re looking for a
Commercial Roofing Estimator
to support bid preparation and pricing for re‑roofs, repairs, and restoration projects across Texas. This role is responsible for developing accurate, timely estimates, preparing proposal packages, and coordinating with operations, vendors, and general contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Review project documents (plans, specs, addenda) and identify full scope requirements.
Perform roof takeoffs and quantify materials and labor (TPO/PVC, Mod Bit, metal roofing, gutters, flashing, insulation, cover board, etc.).
Build detailed estimates including labor, materials, equipment, tax, permits, and subcontractor scopes (HVAC/electrical as needed).
Request and analyze vendor/subcontractor pricing; level bids and ensure apples‑to‑apples comparisons.
Support public entity bids (ISDs, cities, counties): bid forms, bonds, compliance docs, submission requirements.
Collaborate with PMs/field teams to confirm constructability and realistic production assumptions.
Support change‑order pricing and value engineering options when requested.
What Success Looks Like
Accurate estimates with minimal post‑award gaps or change‑orders due to missed scope.
Clean, professional proposals that win work and reduce back‑and‑forth with clients/GCs.
Tight coordination with PM/field teams to keep estimating aligned with real‑world installation methods and lead times.
Required Qualifications
2+ years experience estimating commercial roofing (or strong adjacent estimating experience with willingness to train).
Working knowledge of commercial systems: TPO/PVC, Mod Bit, roof accessories, flashing details, drainage, gutters, and basic metal.
Ability to read and interpret plans/specs and organize addenda.
Strong math skills and attention to detail.
Strong written communication (scope write‑ups, clarifications, exclusions).
Comfortable in fast‑paced bid environments and managing multiple deadlines.
Proficient with ESTIMATING EDGE preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with public sector procurement and competitive sealed proposals (Texas ISDs a plus).
Manufacturer system familiarity (Duro‑Last, GAF, McElroy, etc.).
Experience pricing roof coatings and restoration systems.
Ability to do basic site assessment notes (drainage, penetrations, perimeter conditions).
HubSpot, SharePoint, or structured CRM/document control experience.
Schedule / Location (Customize)
Location: Remote
Full‑time: Monday–Friday
Some travel for site walks and pre‑bids as needed.
