Non‑Ferrous Operations Manager
The Non‑Ferrous Operations Manager oversees daily plant operations to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant processing of non‑ferrous materials. This hands‑on role includes supervising staff, managing equipment, maintaining production quality, coordinating inventory, and scheduling finished goods shipments to consumers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage plant personnel in day‑to‑day operations.
Schedule and assign work tasks to optimize workflow and productivity.
Train new employees in safety procedures and operational standards.
Report directly to the Operations Manager.
Operational Oversight
Monitor plant operations to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
Oversee the sorting, processing, and packaging of non‑ferrous metals.
Implement and maintain quality control procedures.
Prepare and submit weekly inventory reports.
Maintenance & Safety
Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and maintained according to schedule.
Conduct routine safety inspections and enforce all safety protocols.
Respond to and manage any on‑site incidents or emergencies.
Lead monthly safety meetings.
Reporting & Compliance
Maintain accurate production, inventory, and employee performance records.
Prepare operational efficiency and safety compliance reports for management.
Coordinate with the Operations Manager to ensure full regulatory compliance.
Qualifications Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
Strong basic math skills.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years in a metals recycling environment; supervisory experience preferred.
Familiarity with non‑ferrous metals, recycling processes, REMA commodity classifications, shipping, and logistics.
Skills
Strong leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental best practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to prepare and present reports for management.
Working Conditions
Fast‑paced industrial environment requiring multitasking.
Standing for extended periods and lifting heavy materials may be required.
Regular exposure to outdoor conditions and industrial machinery.
PPE must be always worn in plant areas.
