Facilities Maintenance Technician – CL
The City of Portland is recruiting a Facilities Maintenance Technician to serve the Parks & Recreation and Environmental Services bureaus. This is a regular, full‑time position with summer work possible. Strong mechanical and safety skills are required. Legal, EEO, and ADA statements are included as required.
Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, service, and troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
Respond to urgent equipment failures and restore operations quickly.
Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled repairs on interior and exterior hardware.
Assist in training apprentices and provide guidance on maintenance schedules.
Use mobile devices to monitor equipment and manage maintenance records.
Qualifications
Knowledge of automated building control systems and components.
Experience performing building maintenance and repairs, including preventive inspections of interior and exterior hardware.
Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems (boilers, chillers, fans, pumps).
Experience repairing and replacing electrical components.
Experience managing maintenance hazards and safety precautions, including applicable OSHA standards and working autonomously.
A current Limited Maintenance Electrical (LME) license or higher Oregon electrical license is required.
A valid state driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Optional certifications that may strengthen an application (not required): refrigerant 608, Class Three boilers license, backflow assembly, confined space entry, brazing.
