Dental, vision, and health insurance plans – eligibility begins on the first of the month following date of hire. Retirement plan contributions begin on the eligibility date following election and include employer contributions for either a defined contribution or a defined benefit plan. This position is on site at our Cullowhee, NC campus. The primary purpose of the position is to provide the technical capability needed for maintenance, repair, and calibration of central heating and air conditioning systems. Responsibilities also include the maintenance and repair of all other types of ventilation and mechanical refrigeration equipment, including steam systems associated with trade. Position performs as zone leader within organization. Normal hours of duty are from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This position also functions as an “on‑call” plumber/HVAC mechanic during weekends, holidays, and other predesignated occasions. Such duty is rotated among all employees of the Plumbing/HVAC Shop to which this position is assigned. Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working knowledge of refrigeration theory; electricity sufficient to troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems; design and operation of centrifugal and reciprocating compressors; design and operation of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic control systems; practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems; and ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and to prescribe and perform repair procedures. Ability to lead others and prioritize workload. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis. Anticipated Hiring Range
