Coordinates the scheduling of all surgical procedures and secretarial functions within the Department of Surgical Services. Serves as a front-line representative for the organization. Communicates with the clinics and/or other sources to obtain demographic and financial information for the purpose of scheduling surgical procedures. Able to run various reports from the surgical scheduling system. Performs standard and advanced secretarial duties under limited supervision. Requires extensive knowledge of department policies and procedures and operates under a high level of technical skills.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous secretarial experience
Good communication and customer service skills to gather and exchange information with patients, families, hospital staff members, physicians and clinics.
Independent thinking, ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, attention to detail, ability to handle multi-tasking and change in priorities.
Concise written communication skills and keyboarding skills required.
PC skills and experience with Windows and Microsoft office applications.
Requirements to remain in position
Completion of SurgiNet training
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in patient contact, hospital or office/clinic. Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
