Benefits to You

We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full‑time employees (up to 99% for part‑time employees), including mental health coverage.

The hourly equivalent for this position is $26.82 – $41.61 (annual salary: $55,788 – $86,544).

10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part‑time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.

OJD will pay a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job.

In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD up to the third step of the salary range, depending on experience. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.

Location Highlights Portland was founded in 1845 (incorporated in 1851). It is the state’s largest city and the county seat for Multnomah County. It is named for Portland, Maine. It is situated at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. Position Highlights The court is hiring a Courtroom Clerk for the Honorable Elisa Dozono.

Responsibilities

Provide moderate‑to‑complex support to the judge and judicial assistant by preparing files for pretrial review, scheduling hearings and trial dates, preparing motions, orders, and judgments, retrieving case law as requested, managing the judge’s docket, updating multiple calendars, assisting in case tracking, and reviewing documents filed with the court for accuracy and completeness.

Screen visitors and mail, obtain needed signatures, certify court orders as directed, summarize the day’s rulings, and verify the status of warrants.

Provide backup for the judicial assistant and train and mentor newer courtroom clerks as needed.

Prepare the courtroom for the day’s proceedings, swear in witnesses, mark and maintain exhibits, monitor proceedings, respond to security needs, maintain audio and electronic records, update the case management system, and schedule and facilitate Cisco Webex appearances as needed.

Assist attorneys, litigants, and the public in using the court system and answer questions about the status of cases and court procedures.

Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

At least three (3) years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.

Possession of a High School diploma or equivalent OR any combination of equivalent experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Working Conditions

This is a full‑time position, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overtime compensation is available for hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

Occasional after‑hours or overtime work may be required.

Additional Information

Parking

– Multnomah County Circuit Court does not provide parking for the central courthouse or justice center staff. Multnomah offers a Rideshare Rewards program that will provide $50/month for eligible employees. To be eligible, you must spend $50 or more per month on TriMet, Pay‑to‑Park, or Carpool. Another option is the Douglas Garage at 1835 S River Dr.
