Behavioral Health Therapist I

Under immediate supervision, conducts outpatient clinical assessments to evaluate the psychological, substance use, social, occupational, educational, and domestic needs of assigned clients, develops treatment plans, and provides treatment interventions.
Behavioral Health Therapist I is the entry level intern of the Behavioral Health Therapist series, working under clinical supervision to train and develop the diagnostic and treatment skills required for licensure. Behavioral Health Therapist II is an intern under clinical supervision responsible to conduct clinical assessments, determine diagnosis, develop treatment plans, and provide treatment interventions. Behavioral Health Therapist III is the licensed level of the Behavioral Health Therapist series assigned highly complex cases, and demonstrates higher skill level to conduct assessments and provide crisis and treatment interventions.
Education and Experience/ Licenses and Other Requirements Must have a qualifying Master’s Degree to meet the requirement for registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Must be registered and maintain active registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) and able to perform the supervised clinical experience hours required for licensure as an LCSW, LMFT or LPCC.
Must be licensed as an LCSW, LMFT or LPCC within six years of employment. The registration and licensing requirements set forth in this job description are essential requirements of the position.
Valid California Driver’s License.
Supplemental Information: A valid driver’s license may be required at the time of appointment and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC.
