The Job The Special Districts Department is recruiting to fill an immediate vacancy for a full-time Child Care Coordinator to plan and implement the Districts before and after school childcare program and its activities. Duties include ensuring the safety and well‑being of children, coordinating and facilitating learning experiences and activities, and interacting with parents. This position is located in the mountain area of , approximately 1 hour/45 miles from downtown San Bernardino.

The Department provides essential municipal services and community‑based programs. The childcare program is a collaborative effort between the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District, Bear Valley Unified School District, and Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley and is available at Baldwin Lane Elementary School and North Shore Elementary School. The program includes before/after school care for children in grades kindergarten through six.

Conditions of Employment Work Availability: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

License: Candidate must possess a valid California Class B driver license or obtain it within 90 days of employment. Proof of automobile liability insurance is required at time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.

Certifications: Must possess and maintain a current CPR card and proof of completion of a First Aid course for adults and children.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift small children and other objects up to 45 lbs.

Pre‑Employment Process: Job offers are contingent upon passing a background investigation including a fingerprint check and search of the Child Abuse Index before appointment. Applicants must possess an official photo identification card and pass a pre‑employment physical, including a tuberculosis test.

Minimum Requirements Candidate must meet the Experience AND Certification requirements to qualify.

Experience: One year of paid experience in a licensed child care environment, caring for children up to the age of 15.

Certification: Must possess a current CPR card and proof of completion of a First Aid course for adults and children.

Note: All qualifying experience must be obtained in a licensed facility/setting. Care of own children and non‑licensed babysitting/child care is not considered qualifying.

Desired Qualifications

Experience as a Director of a Child Care Center.

Completion of course: Supervision and Administration of Early Childhood Centers.
