The Job Park Maintenance Worker for the various parks throughout the Big Bear area. Park Maintenance Workers perform routine tasks related to the operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of park grounds and facilities. Responsibilities include upkeep of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation systems; concrete and asphalt work; roofing, painting, carpentry, welding, new construction or remodeling; landscaping and shrubbery care; and heavy snow removal. This position is located in the San Bernardino Mountains, approximately 46 miles from downtown San Bernardino, and is currently for the Big Bear Alpine Zoo, requiring weekend work.

Conditions of Employment

Work Location: Must be available to work in the Big Bear Valley.

License: A valid California Class C Driver License is required. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Shift Availability: Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions: Applicants must be able to perform heavy manual labor, work outdoors in extreme cold and variable weather. Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and have the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend over, and crawl for extended periods.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County will not consider candidates requiring visa sponsorship.

Minimum Requirements

Availability: Must be available to work in the Big Bear area, evenings, weekends, and holidays, including adverse weather.

License: Must possess a valid California Class C driver license.

Experience: Must possess six (6) months of experience performing building or grounds maintenance.

Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will have experience in the upkeep of park grounds and facilities.
