3.600 people , we are the preferred choice of millions of consumers. We are seeking a highly skilled Development Scientist to design and develop innovative
flavouring ingredients
for internal use across Africa GBfoods’ product portfolio. This role focuses on leveraging advanced technologies to create ingredients that enhance flavour, taste, and overall sensory experience. Key Responsibilities: Develop new savoury umami flavouring ingredients using different technologies like
vegetable protein hydrolyses, thermal processing (maillard reactions) or biotechnology techniques
like fermentation. Maintenance and optimization of our flavouring portfolio and creation of flavour systems that deliver
impactful taste enhancement for bouillons and seasonings, sauces and ready meals. Explore and apply
emerging flavour technologies and raw materials
to meet consumer trends and sustainability goals. Conduct lab and pilot trials to
validate ingredient performance, stability and cost-efficiency . Work closely with product developers or culinary chefs
to integrate new ingredients into GBfoods’ recipes. Partner with
suppliers, academia and tech centers
to source and
co-develop innovative solutions . Perform
sensory analysis
and flavour profiling to ensure ingredient quality and consistency. Ensure all developed ingredients comply with

Qualifications & Experience: Education: Master’s or PhD in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field. Experience: 5+ years in flavour creation or ingredient development within savoury food companies or flavour houses. Hands-on experience with fermentation, Maillard reaction systems, and hydrolyzed proteins. Skills: Strong understanding of flavour chemistry and sensory science. Ability to translate consumer insights into technical solutions. Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Background: Previous experience in
flavourist companies. Familiarity with food ingredients in global
markets with special knowhow on
Africa markets
