MA / Customer Service Rep | UF New Berlin | Days | Full Time
Provides excellent customer service and greets patients entering the department/practice. A multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician and Office Manager or Team Lead.
Responsibilities
Receives and directs messages (electronic, in‑person, and telephone calls) to appropriate personnel.
Makes contacts to other departments, physicians, patients, and outside organizations as needed for departmental/practice operations.
Provides excellent customer service for patients, families, representatives, and other members of the treatment team.
Maintains patient scheduling functions and sets appointments through established guidelines.
Interviews and completes the registration process for patients utilizing the specific services.
Keys patient dispositions, diagnostic codes, orders, charges, and payments into the electronic medical record as defined.
Performs cashiering functions related to copayments or other patient payments/collections.
May perform routine clerical duties for the department.
Performs venipuncture and administers routine, non‑controlled medications.
Administers medication as directed by and under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Collects routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
Performs basic laboratory procedures including aseptic techniques and takes patient vital signs.
Qualifications
1 year Medical Assistant experience preferred.
2–4 years clerical/customer‑service experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
1 year experience with third‑party payors and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing patient demographic material.
High School Diploma / GED equivalent required.
Completion of an accredited MA program (National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a state medical association, or board‑approved agency) required.
Certifications
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required within 6 months of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
Medical Terminology Certificate preferred within 30 days.
