What’s The Job?
Title: Welding & Pipefitting Technician
Location: Eddyville, IA
Salary: up to $33.14/hr (DOE)
Hours: Monday‑Thursday 6:00am – 4:30pm
Weekly pay on Fridays.

What Will I Be Doing? Team member must work in a team‑oriented and safety‑conscious environment. “Safety First” expectations include, but are not limited to, PJHA process, Observation process, and compliance with all company/site safety guidelines and procedures.
Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on tanks, vessels, piping systems and structural systems.
Layout and fabrication of new and replacement piping systems, as well as installation of valves and related piping equipment.
Assist in formulating preventive maintenance standards/work procedures while performing those duties and provide work order feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery.
Must have working knowledge of blueprint reading, the ability to draw and interpret isometric diagrams, be certified to B31.1 Pipe Welding Code as well as 6‑G in stainless steel.
Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
Perform various welding operations (electric, gas, arc) and cutting of workpieces using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
Observe tests on welded surfaces such as hydrostatic, x‑ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
Inspect and remove rough spots using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions; heat, form and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
Decipher engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations; develop templates and other work aids.
Work from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc., utilizing fall protection equipment as necessary.
Must be flexible to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded.
Perform other tasks, including but not limited to mechanical repairs and maintenance, as assigned by Supervisor.
Ensure compliance with all company/customer regulations, policies, and procedures.
Achieve performance expectations set forth as part of performance appraisals, including employee development planning.
Communicate with all team members to assist in the development of short‑ and long‑range planning in aid of the company’s goals and objectives.
Maintain personal tools required for your job and keep an up‑to‑date documented personal tool list.
Meet physical requirements of the job (provider prior to employment).
Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
Accurate and timely administrative duties, e.g., time accounting and work order completion.
Special Note: This job description summarizes the duties of two types of welders. “Pipe Fitters” perform much of the preparation work while “Pipe Welders” are certified and perform the actual welding. We are currently seeking an individual who is certified, willing and able to perform the duties of both Pipe Fitter and Pipe Welder.

Education
AA degree in Welding preferred, but not required.
0‑2 years of Industrial Pipe Fitting, Pipe Welding and Repairs.
Certification required.
1‑2 years of education in industrial maintenance technologies preferred.
Physical Demands
The ability to observe details at close range.
Control precision—quickly and repeatedly adjust controls of a machine or vehicle to exact positions.
Manual dexterity—quickly grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
Substantial lifting (up to 50 pounds).
Ability to move for extended or continuous periods of time.
Ability to ascend and descend staircases, ladders, and/or step stools.
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, equipment.
Ability to operate forklifts or other vehicles safely.
Ability to wear a respirator while performing job duties.
Communication/expression ability.
Information ordering ability.
Work Environment
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
Occasional exposure to extreme heat and extreme cold, wet and/or humid conditions.
Noise level usually very loud.
