Position Title
Animal Care / Maintenance Technician
Technician needed to provide direct daily care to university owned animals to include preparing for ANS and CVM student labs, feeding, watering, and cleaning. Grounds maintenance to include mowing, weed control, fence repair, and general upkeep.

Position Information Requirements and Preferences
Work Schedule Mon - Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
Other Work/Responsibilities
Minimum 1 year experience working with horses and ability to work safely in animal areas. Experience safely catching, leading, and restraining horses.
Department Required Skills
Ability to recognize sick and or injured animals
Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally both written and orally.
Ability to interpret and understand farm practices as well as all procedures, manuals safety regulations, directives, and other work related documents.
Ability to clean, sanitize, and maintain facilities.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Ability to observe equine appearance and behavior, and report subtle differences, and abnormalities.
Experience operating vehicles and equipment such as UTV’s, pickup trucks, tractors, front-end loaders.
Experience performing minor repair work such as basic plumbing, carpentry, fence repair, small gasoline engine repair, automotive repair, and diesel engine repair.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment such as string trimmers, leaf blowers, and zero turn mowers.
