AMG Specialty Hospital – Albuquerque seeks a Full Time Telemetry Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary for Day Shifts. The role involves accurately interpreting cardiac rhythm strips every four hours, reporting changes to the Primary Care Nurse, documenting arrhythmias, operating monitor, speaker, and phone systems, managing rhythm sheets, and providing indirect patient care in a medical-surgical setting.
Responsibilities
Accurately interpret cardiac rhythm strips every four hours, including rate, rhythm, PR interval, QRS, QT, signature, and title.
Immediately report changes in patient’s rhythm to the Primary Care Nurse.
Post copy of rhythm change in patient record.
Document arrhythmias and/or changes in cardiac rhythm on report sheet and give complete/accurate reports to incoming technician.
Operate monitor system, speaker system, and phone system properly.
Continuously run a strip during a code blue.
Complete emergency calls for staff.
Track monitored patients at all times.
Keep charts prepped with labeled rhythm strips.
Maintain nutritional supplies, count before ordering, and maintain pre-set par limits.
Keep patient label book up to date.
Place completed rhythm sheets in patient charts.
Provide indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting.
Meet communication needs of patient/family, departmental staff, and medical staff.
Prepare and compile records in the Medical Surgical Unit.
Initiate directions from physician and nursing staff.
Participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies and procedures and standards.
Perform other duties as needed or directed by supervisor.
Shift differentials are paid for weekend shifts.
Job Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
Current BLS certification.
Successful completion of a Basic EKG Monitoring Course.
Previous experience in rhythm interpretation; previous experience as a Telemetry Technician preferred.
Knowledge of monitoring equipment.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Additional languages are desirable.
Basic computer knowledge.
