Job Title: School Clerk
Reports To: Office Manager / Principal
Position Summary The School Clerk provides essential clerical and administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations in the school office. This position plays a key role in welcoming and assisting students, families, and staff, maintaining accurate student records, attendance, and schedules. Bilingual skills (English / Spanish) are highly preferred to better serve and communicate with our diverse school community.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist students, parents, and visitors in a professional, friendly, and culturally responsive manner.
Communicate effectively with families, providing clear information and support; bilingual communication (English / Spanish) is preferred.
Process student enrollment, withdrawals, and record updates in compliance with district and state requirements.
Maintain accurate attendance records; monitor and follow up on student absences in collaboration with teachers and administrators.
Support the creation and maintenance of student schedules and classroom assignments.
Answer phone calls, route messages, and provide information regarding school programs and procedures.
Assist with preparing letters, reports, and correspondence.
Collaborate with staff to coordinate meetings, parent conferences, and school events.
Uphold confidentiality and adhere to district policies and procedures at all times.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
Previous experience in a school office or administrative setting preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool, Aeries).
Ability to work effectively with diverse families and maintain a welcoming environment.
Work Environment
Fast-paced office setting within an elementary, middle, or high school environment.
Frequent interaction with students, families, and staff members.
