Job Description
The setting machine operator must learn to run both setting machines Plants 6 equally well and switch machines as required. The area of responsibility is from the slug cutter to the finished car out of the machine. The quality of the set car remains under their responsibility even after it leaves the machine. The operator is ultimately responsible for the quality of the brick going on the kiln car. Continuous checks for size, coatings, and texture must be made. Continuous checking of the quality and accuracy of the spacing grippers and robots to maintain the best set on the cars also is a must. The setting machine operator must operate the equipment in a safe manner. No safety devices should be disconnected or bypassed for normal operation. Any safety not working as designed should be reported immediately.

Ensure product quality from slug cutter to finished car.
Maintain quality of bricks on kiln cars.
Perform continuous checks of size, coatings, texture, spacing grippers, and robots.
Operate equipment safely and report any safety issues.
Requirements
Changing wires
Clean up
Change‑over
Some preventive maintenance
Assist maintenance in break‑downs
Straightening poorly set cars
QC checks (size, color, texture)
Run the car cleaner when needed
Participate in department housekeeping and meet standards
Team player – help out co‑workers
Hardhat, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes required
Ability and willingness to help throughout the Plant where needed
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally
Must be able to twist, stoop, and bend regularly
Work schedule: 7 am–7 pm (3/4 schedule, 2‑2‑3) – must work every other weekend
