Job Summary/Description:
The News Producer crafts compelling newscasts and executes them from the control room on a daily basis. This person develops the day-to-day on-air look of their newscast and works together as a team with Anchors, Reporters, and other crew members to help attract the largest available audience.
Duties/Responsibilities
Produce daily newscast
Conceptualize newscast rundown
Collaborate with Executive Producer, field crews, and assignment desk to determine content of newscast
Write scripts
Research stories
Pitch story ideas
Participate in editorial meetings
Preview material before air
Work with reporters and directors on innovative production elements
Incorporate and coordinate breaking news
Work to constantly improve and evolve the look and execution of newscasts
Execute the show from the control room
Meet all show timing requirements
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience
Knowledge of TV News producing tools a plus (i.e., ENPS, Edius)
Ability to work a flexible schedule and work as a member of a team
Must be results-oriented
Ability to work in a creative, fast-paced environment
Ability to make quick decisions without losing composure
