Summary
Balfour Beatty seeks an HR Generalist to join our team in Dallas, TX. This is an in‑office position. The HR Generalist provides a wide range of HR process support to the department and the company, maintaining and building knowledge in all HR disciplines: employee orientation and recruitment, compensation and benefits, EEO, legal requirements for employers, training and development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with key personnel to develop and implement employee recruiting tools and processes.
- Teach or coach others to use company selection tools, methods, and processes (e.g., competency‑based interviews, background/reference checks, substance‑abuse testing).
- Manage aspects of the company’s hiring due diligence practices; ensure pre‑employment screens are completed prior to onboarding and present recommendations to management.
- Serve as an employee relations specialist, interpreting HR policies and employment law for employees and managers and coaching them to ensure compliance.
- Support campus recruiting (on‑campus recruiting, planning, coordination, participation; assist with intern and new‑graduate offers).
- Design, implement and facilitate assigned curricula, training topics, and organization training initiatives.
- Review, execute and manage third‑party vendor contracts, ensuring services rendered align with expectations.
- Audit various documents and processes.
- Report on HR function metrics (hires, terminations, trends, training, overall activity).
- Manage assigned areas of organization development and performance management, including administering coaching of management and employees to increase effectiveness.
- Conduct new employee orientation and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and compliant with payroll deadlines.
- Oversee the exit interview process, ensuring terminated employees are interviewed, compiling results for executive review.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, and at least 2 years of HR experience, or 6 years of progressive, relevant HR experience.
- Strong communication, organization, presentation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to build rapport with all levels of staff and effectively manage conflict.
- Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, scanning, database, and presentation software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Ability to independently make decisions and recommendations under tight deadlines.
- Capability to maintain confidential information and act with integrity.
