Overview
As a Specialized Trades Worker, you will build a stronger tomorrow by applying your diverse background, education, and work experiences to building, equipment, maintenance, and trades work projects. You will ensure projects are completed in alignment with objectives, support FMDC mission and vision, and impact the community and the State of Missouri.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize excellent customer service for a wide and diverse internal and external stakeholder network.
- Complete skilled work within one or more specialized trade areas.
- Apply trade-specific knowledge to troubleshooting, repair, and remediation tasks.
- Perform work related to electrical, HVAC, electronics, carpentry, concrete and masonry, welding, plumbing, and/or painting.
- Lift, lift heavy objects, use machinery, and operate heavy equipment as needed.
- Respond to urgent texts, calls, voicemails, chat messages, and emails while carrying state-issued cell phone.
- Answer emergency calls and travel to other facilities for coverage.
- Provide after‑hours coverage for emergency purposes such as severe weather, fire, and leaks.
- Follow OA‑FMDC health and safety protocols plus OSHA standards.
- Communicate, collaborate, and lead with integrity, building trust with stakeholders.
- Plan, manage, and direct time‑sensitive projects independently or as part of a team.
- Interpret complex technical documentation to solve problems and present options for resolution.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of on‑the‑job training in a trade area.
- Experience operating and maintaining equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions (OSHA 10 or 30 preferred).
- Excellent time management, organization, planning, and communication skills.
- Strong attendance, work ethic, attention to detail, conflict management, and critical thinking.
- Valid driver’s license from Missouri or an adjacent state.
Physical Demands
This position is physically demanding. Duties may include prolonged walking, standing, sitting, bending, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in inclement weather, and working on uneven or elevated surfaces. The position is Category 2 under the FLSA (overtime of hours over forty per week paid at one‑half time).

Successful background check results are required for employment. Checks may involve name, fingerprints, and other screenings as needed.
