The Crime Victims Center (CVC) is Long Islands leading provider of trauma-informed support services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. We also serve as the regions foremost resource for prevention education, delivering impactful programming to schools, communities, and professionals. There is no remoting in the CVC.
Our comprehensive services include hotlines, crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and support services for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Through education and outreach, we work to prevent future victimization and foster safer, more informed communities.
CVC partners closely with law enforcement and hospitals to provide immediate, on-site crisis response. Our Advocates and Rape Crisis Counselors (RCCs) deliver compassionate support in emergency departments for survivors of acute sexual assault.

Position Summary:
The Director of Prevention, Outreach, and Development leads strategic initiatives to educate the community, prevent gender-based violence, and sustain the Nassau County program through fundraising and public engagement. This role designs and delivers trauma-informed prevention education programs K-12, to college aged students, and to adults. This role designs outreach campaigns, builds relationships with key stakeholders, and supports development efforts to ensure long-term program viability. As a member of the Nassau leadership team, the Director plays a critical role in shaping public perception, expanding access to services, and promoting a culture of equity and empowerment.
Responsibilities:
Prevention Education Across Age Groups
* Deliver and keep-up-to-date age-appropriate prevention programs for:
o Elementary and middle school students (e.g., body autonomy, safe boundaries)
o High school and college students (e.g., consent, bystander intervention, healthy relationships)
o Adults and professionals (e.g., workplace harassment, trauma-informed response, rape culture)
o Older adults and caregivers (e.g., elder abuse prevention, safety planning)
* Tailor content to reflect cultural, linguistic, and developmental needs of diverse communities * Use interactive, trauma-informed teaching methods that foster engagement and retention * Evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback and outcome tracking * Familiarity with Title IX, 129B, and DASA
Program Development & Innovation
* Regularly review and update existing curricula to reflect current research, legislation, and community needs * As assigned, create new prevention and outreach programs * Maintain up-date educational materials and resources for staff and partners
Community Outreach & Engagement
* Build and maintain relationships with schools, healthcare providers, faith communities, and civic organizations and maintain up-to-date contacts in CMS * Represent the agency at community events, coalitions, and stakeholder meetings * Coordinate outreach campaigns to raise awareness of services and survivor rights * Ensure outreach materials are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and accessible
Social Media & Digital Communications
* Manage the agencys social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter) * Develop and schedule content that promotes services, events, prevention messages, and fundraising efforts * Ensure all digital communications reflect trauma-informed language and survivor-centered values * Monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategy to maximize reach and impact * Respond to comments and messages in a timely, professional, and sensitive manner * Collaborate with leadership to maintain consistent branding and messaging across platforms
Fundraising & Development
Lead Fundraising Strategy & Public Engagement
* Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising campaigns tailored to Nassau Countys programmatic needs * Collaborate closely with the Executive Teamincluding the Executive Director, Assistant Director, Director of Legal Services, Director of Human Resources, and Director of Nassau Operationsto align fundraising efforts with agency priorities * Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and community stakeholders to support long-term sustainability * Lead planning and execution of fundraising events, donor briefings, and public campaigns including an annual Golf Outing and Gala and other events. * Manage agency social media platforms to promote services, events, and fundraising initiatives * Draft grant proposals and donor communications in collaboration with program leads * Track fundraising performance metrics and adjust strategy to maximize impact * Ensure all messaging reflects trauma-informed, survivor-centered values * All fundraising plans, campaigns, and external communications must be reviewed and approved by the Executive Director to ensure strategic alignment and organizational integrity
Communications & Public Relations
* Oversee development of outreach materials, including brochures, social media content, and press releases * Ensure all public messaging reflects trauma-informed values and survivor-centered language * Maintain consistent branding and messaging across platforms and departments
Media Relations & Outreach
* Build and maintain an up-to-date media list for newspapers, TV, other media outlets, and influencers * Distribute press materials and support Executive Director at press events * Coordinate media attendance and manage press check-in and access during events * Facilitate media interviews with Executive Director
Event Execution & On-Site Management
* Lead day-of coordination, including setup, staff assignments, and run-of-show * Ensure smooth flow of presentations, panels, and audience engagement * Monitor for safety and accessibility needs during live events * Capture event photos, video, and testimonials for post-event social media, website, and other communications.
Post-Event Follow-Up & Evaluation
* Draft and distribute post-event press releases and thank-you communications * Track media coverage and compile press clippings for internal and funder reporting * Evaluate event impact through attendance metrics, media reach, and community feedback
Collaboration & Leadership
* Participate in Nassau leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning * Supervise outreach staff or interns as program grows * Collaborate with HR Manager on staff wellness and internal culture-building initiatives * Work closely with the Assistant Director to align prevention efforts with agency-wide goals
Reporting

Qualifications
* Masters degree in Public Health, Social Work, Education, Communications, or related field) * 5+ years experience in outreach, prevention, curriculum development, or nonprofit leadership * Strong Public Speaking Skills and documented experience * Proven ability to design and deliver programs across age groups and diverse communities * Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, survivor advocacy, and community education * Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor engagement * Exceptional communication, facilitation, and organizational skills * Commitment to equity, inclusion, and systems change
