The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", Information Technology Department has an exciting opportunity for a full‑time Executive Director, Epic Ambulatory/MyChart. The position reports to the Chief Health Applications Officer and collaborates with other managers and directors.
Responsibilities:
Implementation, management, oversight, and optimization of the Epic Inpatient Applications, including EpicCare Ambulatory, Kaleidoscope, MyChart, CareEverywhere, EpicCare Link, Research, and other Clinical Applications.
Provide effective communication and direction in the deployment of Core Clinical applications.
Provide technical support to the application and analyze system requirements and specifications.
Ensure all application aspects integrate with other cross‑functional applications utilized by the organization.
Maintain open lines of communication with Clinical/Operational leaders to set proper expectations with all members in the business community.
Work with leadership for development of competitive strategic plans to achieve UMMSOM and the University of Miami Health Systems mission of excellence in medical care delivery.
Implement effective strategies and tactics to improve patient experiences and outcomes related to satisfaction and quality.
Develop and maintain Information Technology strategic planning, workforce and resource allocation.
Outline strategic technology requirements for major capital expenditures.
Assimilate Clinical data captured through the Electronic Health Record into health data management strategies and translational research capabilities.
Conduct feasibility studies related to implementation of new ancillary procedures, clinic studies, and hospital process from a cost and effectiveness standpoint.
Keep senior leadership informed of technology barriers, advancements, opportunities, and resource requirements to execute on strategic initiatives.
Recommend remediation plans and execute associated action and follow‑on support plans independently.
Supervise, manage, and coordinate activities for assigned enterprise‑wide information technology projects and ensure an efficient and timely conclusion.
Oversee the analysis of end user department workflow, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with software as they relate to system design and build decision.
Oversee the build, test, and debug activities for the core clinical applications to ensure the system meets end user requirements.
Oversee the coordination of software updates and changes.
Act as principal business liaison between Epic and the Health System negotiating any contracts/SOW’s prior to sending for approval.
Attend applicable professional meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars to keep abreast of technological market advancements.
Core Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred.
Epic Certifications required (Ambulatory, MyChart, Research, Carelink or CareEverywhere).
Minimum of 12 years of experience, preferably in healthcare or a healthcare‑related organization.
Familiarity with physician practices' workflows, hospital outpatient departments, and patient experiences.
Familiarity with ophthalmology physician practices' workflows.
Understanding of a wide array of integration points, including scheduling, lab, radiology, billing, imaging, and inpatient clinical.
Familiarity with legal requirements and operational policies related to patient and family privacy practices.
Familiarity with current outside organization connection strategy.
Familiarity with community clinic relationships and how those groups interact (referrals, discharge to SNF, lab ordering, surgery scheduling, etc.).
Familiarity with the non‑clinical external groups that need to access information about certain patients and why they need the information.
Understanding of the range of considerations around research, including recruitment, research‑patient tracking, scheduling and treatment workflows, and research billing.
Experience leading large teams of individuals and the ability to manage staff effectively.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Past success with large‑scale projects such as other software implementations, building projects, or other key initiatives.
Able to logically examine, and interpret information from different sources to determine a problem's cause and develop a course of action to resolve the problem and prevent its recurrence.
Ability to gain trust and establish effective relationships with team members.
Ability to persevere in difficult situations, overcome obstacles, and reach high levels of performance when faced with stressful work situations and time pressure.
