Assistant Professor of Dental Medicine (Knoxville)

Location: Lincoln Memorial University College of Dental Medicine – Knoxville, TN
Position Type: Full-time and/or Part-time, Faculty Appointment

Position Summary

The Assistant Professor of Dental Medicine will provide high‑quality instruction in comprehensive general dentistry to pre‑doctoral students within the College of Dental Medicine. This position plays an essential role in developing clinical competence, professional ethics, and evidence‑based practice through teaching, mentoring, and supervision.

The faculty member reports directly to the Vice Dean for Academic and Clinical Education and collaborates closely with the Office of the Dean to support the College’s mission, programs, and strategic initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach all forms of comprehensive general dentistry, including diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, and related disciplines.
  • Supervise and evaluate students in preclinical and clinical settings.
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Contribute to scholarly activities, service, and professional development consistent with faculty appointment expectations.
  • Support institutional initiatives and accreditation requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD from a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)–accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for dental licensure in Tennessee.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in comprehensive general dentistry.
  • Private practice experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the predoctoral or postgraduate level.
  • Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), General Practice Residency (GPR), or specialty training.
  • Forensic Fellowship Certification or similar credential.
