Receptionist (PT) -- Thursdays & Fridays

The City of Tallmadge is seeking a friendly, organized, and service-oriented part-time Receptionist to join our Administration team. This role is the first point of contact for residents, visitors, and staff, making excellent customer service and strong communication skills essential. Typically working Thursdays and Fridays, the part-time Receptionist will provide front desk support, answer and direct inquiries, and assist various departments across the City with a range of administrative needs. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a collaborative municipal environment. General Description: Under immediate supervision, the Receptionist receives and directs calls to appropriate staff, warmly greets visitors to City Hall, delivers and sorts mail, types and distributes documents, and operates office equipment. Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered sedentary work.

Job Description and Worker Characteristics

Job Duties in order of importance

  1. Answers phones and greets visitors, guests and the general public; provides general information, resolves routine issues, takes messages or refers party to appropriate staff; receives, and distributes incoming mail, and processes outgoing mail; types letters, memos, reports, and other correspondence, and may enter data in computer or spreadsheets. Aware of calendar for meetings in various locations to assist in set up or directing participants.
  2. Performs general cleaning and housekeeping of the reception area including, sanitizing touch surfaces, taking out trash and recycling; sets-up meeting rooms with tables, chairs, refreshments, etc.
  3. Provides staff support to other departments as necessary; performing clerical and review tasks for provides phone coverage to other departments when required.
  4. Attends meetings and serves on committees, as required; attends various meetings, seminars, and workshops.
  5. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
  6. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications:

An example of acceptable qualifications: Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED); or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
