Overview It’s a great time to join the City of Boulder. This is a full-time hourly position with a compensation range of $25.93 - $37.60 per hour and a scheduled 40 hours per week. This description reflects the job responsibilities and qualifications for the role in the Violations Bureau, with emphasis on customer service, financial transactions, and administrative duties.

Job Description Summary Under general supervision, provides support to the daily operations of the violation bureau and performs related duties as required. Participates as a member of a team to provide excellent customer service. With strong attention to detail, performs financial transactions and provides various administrative functions to process and maintain accurate information and records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs a variety of duties to assist in the daily operations of the violations bureau, including but not limited to:

Customer service administration: answering phones, greeting the public, answering routine questions, and referring visitors to appropriate areas.

Interacting with departments/agencies that file summonses with the court.

Disseminating accurate information regarding current case status, dispositions, and court-ordered sanctions to departments, the public, and other agencies (e.g., Colorado Bureau of Investigation, CCIC/NCIC, Probation Departments, Motor Vehicle Division, U.S. Military Office of Personnel Management).

Ensuring adherence to policies and procedures set by Court Administrator, Judge, state statutes, and local ordinances.

Processing system entries for traffic, general, animal, photo, and parking violations, including data entry, payments, and deferred judgments.

Addressing customer complaints regarding parking violations and determining applicability of suspension criteria; proactively educating the public to deter further violations.

Administering court dockets, issuing warrants, writs, outstanding judgments, and defaults per judges’ orders.

Purging closed files in accordance with record retention guidelines.

Other duties outlined by the supervisor.

Performs processes and maintains records of financial transactions, including:

Monitoring and ensuring integrity of large amounts of cash in accordance with financial requirements.

Assessing the accuracy of bonds submitted and maintaining detailed records of personal recognizance, cash, and surety bonds.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to read, write and speak English.

Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, and other computer platforms.

Ability to demonstrate strong computer and technology skills.

Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally charged environment.

Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to acquire and maintain Colorado Bureau of Investigation operator security number.

Skill in courteous and effective communication.

Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to communicate in Spanish.

Knowledge of the Boulder Revised Code.

Knowledge of court legal databases.

Experience utilizing the Colorado Bureau of Investigation system.

Experience in cash and payment handling including e-payments.

Required Education And Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Working Conditions

Physical and mental effort: clear communication, attention to detail, and ability to operate computer equipment in an office setting.

Work environment: clean, comfortable office with potential interruptions and background noise.

Machines and equipment used: extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor and/or using a keyboard.
