Staff - Senior Software Engineer – Emerging Technologies & Automation | Hybrid in Burbank, CA | W2 Contract

Optomi, in partnership with a globally recognized entertainment and media organization, is seeking a Software Engineer for a hybrid role based in Burbank, CA. This engineer will join an Emerging Technologies and Automation team within the Technology Transformation organization, focused on rapid prototyping, AI-driven experimentation, and cloud-native innovation.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a senior-level engineer who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building end-to-end proofs of concept, and wants to help shape the future of enterprise technology through emerging tools such as LLMs, automation platforms, and modern cloud architectures.

Experience of the right candidate:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

10+ years of full-stack software engineering experience.

Strong coding experience in Go (preferred) or Python and/or TypeScript.

Hands-on experience building production-grade solutions on cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable).

Solid understanding of microservices architecture, infrastructure-as-a-service, and cloud-native design.

Experience working with large-scale databases (SQL and/or NoSQL).

Proven ability to write clear technical documentation and system architecture diagrams.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex systems and tradeoffs clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience integrating LLMs, AI agents, or prompt-based workflows.

Background in automation, developer productivity, or platform engineering initiatives.

Experience working in early-stage, experimental, or ambiguous environments.

Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

Passion for emerging technologies and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities of the right candidate:

Build thin, end-to-end implementations to evaluate feasibility of emerging technologies.

Rapidly prototype and iterate on solutions to explore unknowns and validate assumptions.

Design and implement cloud-native, microservices-based architectures.

Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders.

Serve as a technical leader and mentor within the team.

Support project planning, prioritization, and execution to ensure timely delivery.

Promote engineering best practices, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Help transition successful proofs of concept to partner teams for full production development.
