The City of Redmond is seeking a passionate
Digital and Graphic Design Specialist
to join our Communications team. This role supports citywide communications efforts and marketing programs by creating and maintaining a variety of assets and materials for use in print and digital media for both internal and external communications.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong visual sense and the ability to translate ideas into polished, effective designs. You’ll work closely with internal teams to ensure all creative materials align with brand standards and meet project objectives.
The ideal candidate is comfortable in fast-paced environments, can juggle multiple priorities, and consistently delivers high-quality work on tight timelines. You will play a key role in shaping the City’s visual identity across print, digital, and multimedia platforms.
NOTE: This is a limited time duration position, scheduled to end on December 31st, 2026.
Produce high-quality graphics, layouts, and visual assets for digital and print materials.
Utilize brand guidelines to ensure visual consistency throughout all deliverables.
Collaborate with internal teams to understand creative needs and deliver effective solutions.
Develop strong design concepts from audio, visual, or text content.
Provide recommendations to presentation approach, style, technique and other production factors.
Manage a large workload while consistently meeting competing deadlines.
Prepare production-ready files for vendors and coordinate as needed.
Stay current on design trends, tools, and best practices.
Serve as a member of the web design team; prior experience with HTML and CSS preferred but not required. On-site training provided as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient in design layout, web and email design, presentation design, image/photo-editing and vector-based graphic design.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
Embody a spirit of creativity with an eye for design and be comfortable engaging in creative discussions and direction.
Maintain excellent attention to detail and uphold high-quality standards in design work.
Communicate effectively and collaborate well with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to apply creative problem-solving and conceptual thinking to develop effective visual solutions.
Use of relevant technology/software applications including Adobe Creative Cloud and MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, and PowerPoint).
Preferred but not required: Familiarity with motion graphics or video editing software.
Preferred but not required: Familiarity with web design (HTML, CSS, Responsive design), Content Management System(s).
Preferred but not required: Knowledge with SharePoint content editing, experience with CivicPlus’s Civic Engage website platform, email marketing software and ArcGIS StoryMaps or similar softwares.
Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Digital Communications or related field with five (5) or more years of applicable experience.
Work experience within a public sector setting is preferred.
