The Worship Leader (WL) is a part‑time position (reports to the senior pastor), providing pastoral (non‑ordained) leadership within the music worship ministry, responsible for designing, leading, and resourcing worship for DPC’s weekly ‘contemporary’ service and for a minimum of four special worship experiences annually. This is both a musical position and a pastoral one, serving both the band as their leader, but also serving as a shepherd for the congregation. Compensation will be $12,000 annually with 6 Sundays off during the regular year and up to 4 additional Sundays off over the summer months. (10 total). flexible schedule, paid time off
KEY ROLE OBJECTIVES

PRIMARY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
The WL is responsible for carrying out the following functions in alignment with DPC’s mission and vision. Dundee Presbyterian Church belongs to the PCUSA and has committed to the Fellowship Community in core beliefs.
Plan in advance, and lead weekly worship sets, so that they (a) integrate with each week’s sermon and (b) facilitate authentic and growing experiences of congregational worship:
Discover and develop the congregation’s worship language, select music, design musical and spoken transitions, coordinate theme and time requirements with pastors, transpose songs into appropriate keys, introduce and teach new songs, and balance congregational singing and listening. Must be pastorally relational with the congregation, coordinating with the Senior Pastor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Spiritual and Personal Qualifications
Demonstrate a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.
Exhibit a passion for celebrating and sharing faith in Jesus through vibrant worship.
Possess a heart for empowering others to worship in and through music and prayer.
Must have a passion for working with people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to help them grow in their relationship with God.
Display a high level of positive energy, creativity, and a willingness to learn and grow.
Be a self‑starter with a servant‑hearted leadership approach.
Musical Leadership & Worship Facilitation
Proven ability to lead a team of vocal and instrumental musicians in a positive, Spirit‑led worship experience.
Seek growth both musically and spiritually, encouraging the same in team members.
Knowledgeable of contemporary Christian music trends, with discernment to apply them in varying worship contexts.
Capable of guiding the congregation into meaningful worship through music, scripture, and the spoken word.
Have a track record of success in building, nurturing, and empowering musical teams.
Provide leadership in preparing the worship space for rehearsals and services, coordinating with A/V and other staff.
Team Leadership – Praise Team
Provide visionary leadership to the Praise Team, incorporating all members as valued participants and serving with spiritual and relational intentionality.
Recruit and integrate new vocalists and instrumentalists; build a cohesive, spiritually grounded team.
Lead and organize regular rehearsals; teach and arrange new songs appropriate for the worship setting.
Foster an environment of healthy communication, spiritual growth, and team fellowship.
Provide ongoing training and development, with a long‑term goal of expanding into multiple worship teams if needed.
Encourage the team to grow in ministries of care, fellowship, discipleship, and mission.
Administrative Responsibilities
Manage online music platforms and distribute recorded/printed music to team members in advance.
Communicate weekly worship plans and themes to the Senior Pastor, Director of Music, and Marketing/Communications staff.
Provide written sound cues to the A/V Team prior to services.
Collaborate with the Director of Music to prepare and manage the worship budget (e.g., music purchases, equipment needs, conferences, and special music).
