Overview The School of Health Professions (SHP), Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences, Rutgers University, is inviting applications for an open‑rank, full‑time faculty position in the Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) Program. This 12‑month appointment focuses on design and delivery of coursework in the 8‑semester, entry‑level OT doctorate program. The department values teaching, research, and clinical practice excellence and offers opportunities for interprofessional education and collaborative scholarship.

Responsibilities The faculty member will lead the development and delivery of curriculum for the OTD program, focusing on foundational OT topics, professional practice, mental health, and adult rehabilitation. Responsibilities include instructional design, assessment of learning outcomes, faculty mentoring, and contributing to the department’s research agenda.

Qualifications – Minimum Education and Experience

Doctoral degree from an institution accredited by a USDE‑recognized regional accrediting body

Minimum 5 years of practice experience

Prior experience designing learning experiences and assessing outcomes in community‑based settings across the lifespan with persons who have a variety of conditions

Demonstrated professional leadership (local, regional, or national)

Demonstrated skill in mediating multiple stakeholder needs

Strong community networking and team collaboration skills

Strong communication and problem‑solving skills

OT license or eligibility in New Jersey

Current NBCOT certification

AOTA & NJOTA membership

Certifications/Licenses Faculty members must be appropriately credentialed, possess earned degrees from an accredited institution, and be licensed or license‑eligible in New Jersey to teach in the OTD program.

Physical Demands and Work Environment This job is primarily sedentary with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling. It requires close visual acuity for extensive computer work, adaptability to frequent interruptions, and the ability to interact appropriately with colleagues in various contexts.
