Atterdag Village of Solvang is a Continuing Care Retirement Community, offering our residents independent, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing care. Our Environmental Services staff are a team oriented group, working together to provide the highest quality of care to our residents, proving that we are People Who Care.The primary purpose of the Maintenance Engineer position is to performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair on buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems. Performs minor and major repair of all buildings, equipment and grounds. Requirements:
Must pass state required physical, and TB test. Must be fingerprinted and free of conviction. Knowledge and experience in Facility Maintenance. Must have valid Driver’s License. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, receive written and oral instructions and possess good interaction skills. Must adhere to department dress code. Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. IT knowledge preferred Responsibilities:
Provide professional, compassionate and quality care to all residents, listening to and responding to their queries and requests. Perform plumbing tasks including installation and repair of fixtures and pipes, soldering and fitting of pipes. Perform carpentry repairs of buildings including construction and demolition of walls, shelves. Perform carpet maintenance including cleaning and removal of old carpet. Maintain cement surfaces, including construction of repairing and resurfacing. Maintain, repair and install electrical systems, items and replace light bulbs, helping with resident requests such as repair of TV’s, VCR’s, Computers, phones and other personal items. Maintaining buildings, such as roof repair, repairing, plastering and painting of internal and external walls. Perform and document minor preventative maintenance on facility equipment. Move furniture, equipment and supplies. Maintain tools, supplies and work areas per safety regulations. Checks of all fire extinguishers, fire alarm and fire sprinkler checks, intercoms, nurses call systems, 2 way radios throughout the campus. Respond to emergency situations including fire alarms and annunciators. Participate in safety, fire control, and security of facility, including: assisting in testing of fire alarm, sprinkler systems and emergency generator as required. Digging of ground for various repairs. Assist staff members with special events decorations. Wash vehicles as needed. Be available on a rotating basis for on call status to respond to maintenance calls. Follow established safety precautions and adhere to company policies, OSHA, CalOSHA, and State and Federal safety standard precautions, i.e. infection control, PPE’s and isolation room requirements.
