Salary Details: Minimum Annual Salary is $117,558

Posting Summary: The Department of Community Health is searching for one (1) full‑time General Dentist at the rank of RBHS Instructor/Assistant Professor, Non‑Tenure Track in Somerdale, NJ (Camden County) at the RSDM University Dental Center at Somerdale. This faculty member provides support for students, assures timely care for patients, serves as a nucleus for interdepartmental faculty communication, and provides all phases of patient care as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of patient care and ensuring proper post‑treatment management, including recare.

Ensure that the standards, policies and procedures of RSDM, as outlined in the Clinic Manual, Radiation Hazard, Infection Control, Patient’s Bill of Rights, and RSDM Confidentiality policies, and Quality Assurance protocols are followed at the sites.

Supervise and instruct students in their respective disciplines, by demonstration when required.

Review the records of patients whose treatment has been documented as completed.

Review patient records prior to termination of patient treatment. Authorization is documented in the consultation section of the patient’s record.

Ensure, with site faculty, that RSDM standards for the education of students are maintained.

Conduct small group discussions with students when possible.

Participate in CODE faculty standardization and calibration.

Perform evaluation of students’ competencies.

Assist in quality and quantity review for all dental personnel when requested.

Remain current in the field of dentistry on a level applicable to the title.

Accomplish dentistry using pharmacological adjuncts depending on individual circumstances and dentist qualifications.

Consult with the medical staff in cases showing oral manifestations of medical conditions.

Be available for consultation by the medical staff in cases of oral pathology and other related conditions of common interest.

Arrange program and treatment for patients experiencing oral trauma, oral pain, oral infection and other pathology.

Assist in conducting program of preventive dentistry, dental education and oral hygiene.

Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries and malformations of teeth, gingiva, mucosa, and related oral structures with reasonable patient acceptable sensitivity.

Clean, restore, extract and replace teeth using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications and surgical instruments.

Administer local anesthesia and other supportive medication.

Keep such records and reports as are necessary for the discharge and control of his/her patients.

Serve on call, administratively, operationally and clinically and handle dental emergencies.

Understand and adhere to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

Ensure that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience

A DDS / DMD degree from a CODA accredited school.

Must possess or be eligible for a New Jersey dental license.
