The Monson Group
Capacity Procurement Manager
Full Truckload | Carrier Sourcing & Strategic Capacity
About the Company We are a growing, privately held third‑party logistics provider focused on building long‑term carrier partnerships and scalable capacity solutions. As a smaller, entrepreneurial 3PL, we move quickly, value ownership, and give our team the opportunity to directly impact the trajectory of the business. With significant new freight awards and large RFP activity underway, this role is critical to our next phase of growth.
Position Overview The Capacity Procurement Manager is responsible for sourcing, vetting, and developing direct carrier relationships to support dedicated lanes, RFP awards, and ongoing network capacity needs. This is a
procurement focused role , not a load booking or day‑to‑day operations position.
The ideal candidate thrives on outbound carrier engagement, understands how to identify the right carriers for specific lanes, and is comfortable building relationships with mid‑tier regional carriers across the U.S. This role works closely with leadership and has immediate visibility and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively source and develop new carrier relationships aligned to specific lanes and RFP awards
Conduct outbound carrier outreach via phone and email to build lane‑specific capacity
Leverage data sets, lane history, and market tools to identify target carriers
Solicit and negotiate rates for full truckload and refrigerated lanes
Vet carriers for compliance, service capability, and long‑term partnership fit
Transition awarded lanes to approved carriers once pricing and alignment are secured
Build and maintain a reliable carrier network focused on mid‑tier regional providers
Track carrier performance, responsiveness, and lane coverage effectiveness
Collaborate with internal leadership on capacity strategy and carrier mix
Identify opportunities to expand carrier relationships and increase network depth
What This Role Is Not
Not a load covering or track‑and‑trace role
Not daily booking or dispatch
Not a traditional inside carrier sales or ops seat
This role is focused on
finding the right carriers , not managing freight after it moves.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in carrier procurement, carrier sales, or capacity sourcing
Strong background in full truckload procurement (reefer experience a plus)
Proven ability to build direct carrier relationships through outbound outreach
Experience working with RFPs, lane pricing, and carrier negotiations
Comfortable working independently and managing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Strong communication, follow‑up, and relationship building skills
