Job Overview As part of the Mercedes Benz North America Tax Team, the Senior Tax Accounting Analyst will be responsible for tax accounting functions necessary to ensure income taxes are properly accounted for pursuant to IAS 12 including the preparation of tax provision calculations, interpreting tax and accounting regulations and the development of disclosures for financial reporting. Some review of monthly staff level work will also be required.
Candidate Profile
Must have a good overall understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards and internal controls
Assist the team in researching the accounting treatment of various activities/programs the business is entering into and/or supporting changes to accounting guidelines/standards and their impact on MBFS financial statements
Assist in recording and reporting financial transactions, including the origination of the transaction, its recognition, processing, and summarization in the financial statements
Must be able to multitask, communicate effectively and deal with time constraints. In addition, he/she must be able to work both in a group and independently.
Responsibilities
Prepare the tax accounting packages required for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of income taxes for various North American group entities, including planning periods and provision to return analysis. (60%)
Lead or support projects focused on tax process automation and analytics, leveraging current best practices and tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, or similar platforms) to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the accounting for income taxes. (15%)
Assist as necessary in preparation of the regulatory and/or state reporting as well as the preparation of statutory financial statements for legal entity reporting. Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc analysis and information gathering for external auditors (PwC), internal customers, and other parties. (15%)
Ensure ICFR compliance to support management's assessment on the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting related to tax accounting processes, including analyzing controls documentation and making recommendations to management as well as periodic reporting of findings. (10%)
Qualifications Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of comprehensive work experience in accounting or tax, with income tax experience and exposure to IFRS12 or ASC740 a plus. A CPA license and/or a Master of Taxation is preferred.
Education Bachelor's Degree is required, Master's Degree is preferred. Recommended majors include:

Analytical Skills
Advanced data analysis and financial modeling skills relevant to tax accounting.
Experience with process automation and analytics tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, or similar) is valued.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with SAP and Corptax is a plus.
Ability to interpret complex data, identify trends and variances, and communicate insights effectively.
Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
Additional Skills
In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting issues in the financial services industry.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to learn new systems and business processes quickly.
Ability to share knowledge, and contribute to the growth of junior staff.
Understanding of Organizational Structures and Reporting Understanding of organizational structures and processes affecting financial reporting. In addition, have a sound understanding of products and services offered by the Company to help ensure appropriate and consistent accounting and reporting treatment.
