Clinical Nurse (RN) - IMC/General Surgical Unit - New Graduates Welcome (R3). R3 at Maine Medical Center is an adult Medical Surgical unit, serving adult patients 18 and over. R3 also has a section within the unit with 6 intermediate care beds and cardiac monitoring (COR). The unit provides care primarily for general surgical patients and includes surgical specialties in vascular, bariatric, abdominal, trauma, complex wound management, and burn populations. Inpatient experience desired. This is a full time, night shift opportunity consisting of 3, 12-hour shifts per week. MaineHealth is offering up to $10,000 Sign on bonus for all eligible New Grad Registered Nurses (limited time). Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment. Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center's mission, vision, and values by exhibiting excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family centered care, commitment to our community, and accountability. In accordance with national standards of nursing practice and within Maine Medical Center and the Maine State Board of Nursing policies and procedures, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care. Care delivery and coordination of patient and family care begins with the initial contact with the health care system and may continue across the continuum. Services may be provided on an inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and/or community basis. Responsibilities

Provide nursing care in accordance with the standards of nursing practice and unit policies for adult medical/surgical patients, including those with general surgical needs and associated specialties. Assess patient conditions, plan care, implement nursing interventions, document outcomes, and evaluate effectiveness of care. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community settings. Qualifications

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred. License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine. Experience: Entry-level position; RN experience not required. Care of post-op surgical patient experience is preferred. Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and health care team members. Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients' conditions and to initiate appropriate action. All new graduate RNs (less than 6 months of RN experience) hired into regular status positions are automatically enrolled in the 12-month Nurse Residency Program in conjunction with unit-based employment. For RNs with less than 1 year of RN experience transferring from another organization or participating in a formal new graduate nurse orientation program, exceptions to some Nurse Residency Program requirements may be considered on an individual basis. In accordance with the Clinical Nursing Advancement Program, a Clinical Nurse I who meets or exceeds all criteria at the 12 month evaluation may be appointed to Clinical Nurse II.
