Safety and Health Program Consultant What You Do Join our team as a safety and health program consultant with the Office of Human Resources (HR) at our Central Office in Columbus, Ohio. You will be the lead person for establishing and managing the agency’s safety and environmental health programs that keep staff compliant with the Public Employee Risk Reduction Program (PERRP) and applicable state and local regulations. You will promote a strong culture of safety and wellness within the agency, review existing practices, and maintain detailed records of safety activities and incidents to ensure compliance and effectiveness. You will enroll and advise employees regarding health benefits and monitor workers’ compensation. Your education and experience with safety and environmental health matters are key to developing and managing effective initiatives and standard operating policies, including crisis management and emergency response plans. You will oversee essential training programs such as Respiratory Protection and HAZMAT/OSHA HAZWOPER, and training programs that promote safety awareness, best practices, and requirements including CPR and First Aid training efforts. You will act as Chemical Hygiene Officer and provide expert consultation to various agency teams including Radiation Assessment, Special Investigations Unit, and the Office of Emergency Response. Responsibilities

Plan and manage the agency’s environmental health & safety programs. Develop and implement the agency’s crisis management and emergency response plans. Enroll and advise employees regarding health benefits and track and monitor workers’ compensation. Provide technical expertise to HR senior staff in developing agency-wide policies. Qualifications / Requirements

24 mos. exp. in fire safety, safety, health & building codes & laws & regulations pertaining to developmental centers & community facility operations (e.g., OSHA, Ohio Fire Code, Life Safety Code, Industrial Commission); AND 1 course in management or 3 mos. exp. in managerial or supervisory capacity; AND 1 course in statistics or 3 mos. exp. in application of statistical analysis; AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; AND 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in interviewing principles & techniques or investigative procedures & techniques; AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in preparing & delivering on-job training or education presentations; AND a valid driver’s license. OR completion of undergraduate core program in business administration/management & human resources or management sciences; AND 1 course in statistics or 3 mos. exp. in application of statistical analysis; AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; AND 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in interviewing principles & techniques or investigative procedures & techniques; AND 3 mos. supervisory exp.; AND 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in preparing & delivering on-job training or educational presentations; AND a valid driver’s license. OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. Job Skills:
