The position is based in either Philadelphia, PA or Exton, PA and is part of the Mid‑Atlantic Transportation Team.
Job Description Assist in the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include basic design research, concept development, and construction assistance for roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, bridges, water supply systems, and sewage treatment facilities. Produce accurate documentation and ensure all work meets industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
Under general supervision, collect, compile, and analyze data from work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, and geotechnical data to support project development, design, and construction.
Perform basic civil engineering tasks such as research, inspections of site conditions, and determination of conformance with applicable regulations and permits.
Provide entry‑level technical assistance on design requirements, operating strategies, and safety considerations.
Verify site characteristics and support various engineering, design, and construction issues.
Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs.
Comply with safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures, including statistical documentation, engineering studies, and surveys.
Complete required training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
0 to 1 year of relevant post‑education experience.
Excellent research skills and an analytical mindset.
Familiarity with design/build processes.
Knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
Self‑leadership, attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently under general supervision and as part of a team.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, spreadsheets, and relevant software tools.
Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Availability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training certification.
Familiarity with discipline‑specific design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC‑RAS, and HEC‑HMS.
Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
Membership or active participation in local professional practice organizations.
