Job Description Summary We design, develop, validate, and qualify engine control algorithms and strategies that integrate hardware and software to deliver innovative products for Military applications. Work spans early science and technology programs through New Product Introduction (NPI) supporting next generation aviation products. This focus of this role will be the NPI programs. Roles and Responsibilities

Identify, develop, evaluate, introduce, and manage engineering solutions for product control and control system technology needs

Apply control theory and mathematical modeling to design control systems with desired behaviors, including engine operability, limits/boundaries, engine cycle optimization, control logic, sensors, and hardware/software algorithms

Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.

Lead portions of projects within a defined framework; resolve issues using strong technical judgment and established procedures; interface across teams to integrate controls with adjacent disciplines

Build strong relationships and explain complex technical concepts to stakeholders; present/review in technical and program reviews

Assure proper documentation of technical data consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

Minimum of 8 years’ experience related to Aircraft Engine Controls Systems and Software development

Demonstrated project leadership and ability to lead work within a defined framework; strong oral and written communication

Desire to coach and mentor lesser experienced engineers

This role requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.

Desired Characteristics

Familiarity with NPSS and Python.

Ability to work collaboratively in a structured team environment

Passion to develop Aircraft Engine Controls methodologies including hardware & software integration, requirements development and documentation, logic design, development and validation, and providing support for the product software release process

Intrigued to work in an environment and on projects that can’t necessarily be shared with others

Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for engine controls logic development and related toolchains

Experience developing engine controls systems requirements; documenting control logic and software development processes

Experience with model-based systems engineering tools (e.g., CAMEO)

Ability and interest to coach and mentor engineers while fostering a structured, collaborative team environment

Exposure to or experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) for project tracking and reporting

Comfortable working on programs that may be sensitive and not broadly shareable

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
