Description
A Certified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides basic patient care, monitors health (vitals, symptoms), administers medications, including IV therapy, changes dressings, collects samples, documents care, while working under the supervision of an RN or physician in an ambulatory surgery center.
Requirements DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Monitoring : Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse), observe patient health, and report changes to supervising clinicians.
Medication & Treatments : Administer prescribed medications, injections, and perform wound care/dressing changes.
Documentation : Maintain accurate patient records, update health charts, and document care provided.
Communication & Reporting : Act as a liaison, discussing care plans with patients/families and reporting concerns to Registered Nurses (RNs) or physicians. Educate patients/families regarding post-operative care.
Support for Other Staff : Assist doctors and RNs.
Procedures : Collect specimens for lab tests and prepare patients for procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Current and valid LPN-C license in the state of Nebraska
CPR/BLS certification required (ACLS preferred)
Must be IV certified
Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience (experience in ENT, surgical, or ambulatory care setting strongly preferred)
Strong understanding of otolaryngologic procedures, terminology, and post-operative care requirements preferred
Excellent communication, organizational, and patient-service skills
Proficient in EMR systems and standard clinical documentation practices
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Able to perform accurate and complete patient assessments.
· Skilled in patient population age-based competencies.
