Lead end-to-end multi-state, biweekly payroll processing at scale, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across pay groups and locations. Act as the primary payroll point person for the business—own escalations, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure a strong employee experience. Drive payroll compliance with a heavy focus on taxes, filings, W-2s, and audit readiness (including supporting payroll tax audits). Manage and develop a team of three payroll professionals, providing oversight, coaching, and quality control while remaining hands-on. Partner cross-functionally (HR/Finance) to strengthen processes, reporting, controls, and system integrity, including support of integrations and data accuracy within the payroll platform. Requirements
5+ years of professional experience with at least 2+ years of proven people leadership in payroll (with the ability to lead while staying operationally involved). Demonstrated experience running high-volume payroll for 1,500+ employees (multi-state, biweekly). Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance, audits, and related reporting (must be comfortable owning this space). ADP Workforce Now experience is required (must be able to step in with minimal ramp time). Bonus points for experience with prevailing wage/certified payroll, government contract environments, union payroll exposure, and/or HRIS implementation/integration that shows depth across both front-end and back-end payroll operations. Team-player mentality with a track record of partnering effectively with cross-functional teams, with a collaborative approach.
