Reporting to the Nurse Manager, this role is an essential member of the surgical services team, supporting a broad range of operative procedures. The position is responsible for planning and scrubbing for surgeries, proactively anticipating surgeon needs, and preparing specialized operating room equipment, including surgical drills and advanced instrumentation.
This role upholds the highest standards of aseptic technique and patient safety, ensuring instruments and equipment are properly handled, operated, and maintained throughout each procedure. Responsibilities also include operating both basic and complex surgical equipment, monitoring sterilizers and sterilization processes, and supporting infection prevention and regulatory compliance.
As a collaborative team member, this position actively contributes during surgical procedures and assists with the overall operational support of the department, helping ensure efficient workflows, seamless teamwork, and exceptional patient care in the operating room.
Hourly Pay Rate: $24.00 - $35.40
Qualifications Education
Requires a high school diploma
or
GED.
Must have graduated from a vocational program for Surgical Technicians
or
Technologist.
Three (3) years of on-the-job training experience may be accepted in place of completion of a vocational program.
Experience
Prefer three to five (3-5) years of experience with diverse surgical specialties.
Certification/Licensure
Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
Requires BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
Requires specialized knowledge and skills in operating room practices.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are utilized to enhance and encourage collaborative staff and community relationships.
Must be able to respond quickly and be familiar with operating procedures to have instruments ready for surgeons.
